Find More Light and Fulfillment

Want to discover more joy?

Boy does the world feel heavy right now. Lots of unravelling and uncertainty. Politics, war, daily responsibilities, family stuff, the price of eggs!?! Not to mention precipitous environmental disaster. How do we get a break?

Recognize what you can control!

Know what you can change and what you can’t. Thankfully you have the ability to choose your thoughts, actions and reactions. You can decide where to focus and how to interpret your experiences of what’s going on around you.

  • Where, how, to who and what do you direct your energy?
  • Which environments do you choose to be in?
  • Who do you want to spend your time with and how do you wish to engage?

I’m not sure about you, but I’ve noticed many of my personal priorities have shifted recently. Things I thought were important only a few months ago, seem less relevant or urgent, replaced by more compelling goals for this moment in time.

Hard to believe that things can pivot so precipitously. And yet, our timelines are speeding up (I’m reminded of that fabulous movie headline: Everything, Everywhere, All At Once). I’m not one for a false sense of urgency, however this makes us recognize how precious our time is and that we are best served directing our attention to what matters.

Finding Inspiration

Is the world going to hell in a handbasket (maybe?) or are things being disrupted to create new possibilities? Once that last thought got into my head, things opened up for me. Not change for change’s sake, but real transformation.

What if, in spite of all the madness, some good things could come to the surface right now? New solutions to old intransigent problems. Innovative approaches that create greater personal and community empowerment. Increased awareness evolving from greater consciousness.

Those possibilities keep me optimistic. Despite the ascendant toxic rape and pillage bro culture that appears to be on the rise, something much more fundamental is happening. We’re being called upon to seek new approaches. To question our most deeply held values to determine what is true for us and how we want to live.

How do you want to show up – for yourself and others?

Remember how much power and choice you have to make the right decisions for yourself. Your decisions have ripple effects forwards and backwards through time. We can heal and change more than we realize.

Shifting Our Perspective

My time away from the daily grind for a much needed break was refreshing. I got to see new things, have different experiences – it was eye-opening and life-enhancing. Even with the intense smog of Mexico City, I was able to breathe deeper.

While I certainly felt pressure to catch up after being away and my gut issues lingered unpleasantly for a week, it all seemingly contributed to my feeling lighter. Quite a bit of purging happened. (Yikes!!!) Yet, I somehow feel more optimistic.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m also a cynic and a realist through and through. I can’t ignore the f*cked up mess occurring in our country and around the world. It’s actually quite disheartening and could cause me to crawl into a hole like I did the last time this administration was running riot.

However while things feel much worse and more destructive in many ways, I remain hopeful. In the power of human decency and our ability to make better choices, particularly as we learn more and connect with our hearts.

“Listen to your heart. It knows all things, because it came from the Soul of the World and it will one day return there.”

– Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

We’re not all in the same place.

Our world is more divided than ever. Yet, we can choose in every moment the world we want to live in and what we’re working towards. And that is what makes the difference. Will we bow down and hide from those things we would prefer to avoid or root within ourselves, connect with our center and the earth and face those things we must?

I don’t know about you, but run and hide no longer seems like a feasible option. Resourcing ourselves and regrouping. Choosing our priorities. Deciding where we want to make an impact. That’s the way forward to navigate the uncertainty – by going within and reconnecting with your truth to let it guide you to what you are here to do.
